The History Of PassPorts. |
The first rendition of what we know as the modern passport came around 1920 after world war one. after the U.S was receiving too many immigrants so they passed the emergency quota act in 1921 and the immigration act of 1924 to limit the flow of immigrants into us ports. The biggest question? "How can we know a immigrants country of origin?". The answer of course was a freshly made passport. Some countries refused the passport system at first thinking it as a way for the U.S to claim authority of other countries. Although they all took the system up eventually.
